Hydroxylation Studies on High-Solid Load Magnesia Aqueous Suspensions

The magnesia (MgO) hydroxylation behavior in dilute suspensions (below 50% volumetric solid loads) has been extensively studied over the past decades due to its role refractory castables. However, equivalent effects on concentrated systems have not analyzed such a systemic way, although they are known be as or more deleterious than those observed systems. This study focuses of different sources (sinter and caustic magnesia) aqueous prepared at various solids concentrations (17-96 vol%) shaped by distinct methods. They were thermogravimetry, apparent expansion measurements, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, situ temperature measurements during curing. ratio between experimental theoretical extents degree resulted reaction yield.
